The World Of DJ Barry Blends

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dj Barry Blends began spinning at the age of ten years old. After purchasing his first Dj set for his 18th birthday, he began practicing his craft until it was mastered. Blends would later become one of the hottest party Djs around playing for venues such as Justin’s, 40/40 Club, Blvd, Plumm, Suzie Wong, SOB’s, Opal, and Crash Mansion. He’s considered as one of the top corporate Djs of New York playing for high profile corporations such as Microsoft, Blackberry, Johnson & Johnson, CW Network, Black Bar Association, The Marriot Hotel, and Museum of Natural History. Celebrity Dj is another title that Blends holds playing for huge industry functions involving Diddy, NY Jets, Vivica Fox, Anthony Anderson, Keith Murray, Queenpen, Hot 97 FM, Power 105 FM, 103 Jamz, Don Diva Magazine, World bride Magazine, Multiplex Movie Theater, and Kaufman furs (all separate events). Being no stranger to the stage, he has performed concerts at Nokia Theater, Joe’s Pub, Grants Tomb, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and the Apollo summer stage to name a few. In 2004, 107.5 WBLS employed him as the mobile Dj for the radio station. Recently, Barry has appeared on Fox channel 5’s Good Day New York as their featured Disc Jockey. He also has one of the most entertaining internet radio shows in the world which airs every Wednesday at 4PM EST on There are not too many Djs today who utilizes the art form of mixing and blending songs together to keep the crowd on their feet and that’s what set Blends apart from most Djs. No matter if it’s a club, celebrity or corporate event, wedding, birthday party, baby shower or sweet 16, there is no job that is too big or small for him. He caters to everyone. Not to mention, he has a wide range of diverse music to please every age and ethnic group and the latest state of the art professional equipment to make your event a successful one.

While being one of the most loved Djs in the industry, Barry is also an actor and has appeared on NBC’s Law & Order, Third Watch and has worked on commercials for Burger King, MTV, and chocolate milk. In 2006, he made his first theater appearance on 42nd street in a play called Hip Hop Cabaret. His most current film projects include Eklypse and Indelible where he plays the Dj, and The Turtle Neck Gang where he plays detective Minks. Nia Long, LL Cool J, Alexis Suarez, and Clifton Powell are among some of the great actors that Barry has worked with.

Blends is a jack of all trades because, besides being an excellent Dj and actor, he is also a rapper and has been signed to two major record labels. His first single was picked up in 1991 by Relativity Records and in 1996, he signed a deal with Next Plateau Records to do a song for Dj Red Alert’s compilation album which climbed the billboard charts and received major airplay on Hot 97 FM. Barry created an incredible street buzz as a rapper by doing radio promos for New York City’s biggest jocks locking down the airwaves on Power 105, 98.7 Kiss FM, WBLS and Hot 97. For years, Barry has received major radio airplay on the Ed Lover & Doctor Dre Show, The Wendy Williams Experience, and Dj Red Alert’s five o’clock free ride show. He has also done special songs for Funkmaster Flex, Angie Martinez, Fatman Scoop, Curt Flirt, Bugsy, Monie Love and The Buddah Brothers of 103 Jamz which received major radio exposure from all jocks. Barry Blends is definitely a multi talented individual who knows how to expose himself and is considered one of the hardest working people in show business today, and this is only the beginning.
